The Highest Level of Player Development at St. Johns Soccer Academy
The SJSA First Team represents the highest level of competition and performance within St. Johns Soccer Academy. This program is designed for our most advanced players who have demonstrated exceptional skill, commitment, discipline, and understanding of the game.
The First Team is not a starting point. It is a destination earned through development.
The First Team is a competitive squad formed from top-performing academy players who are ready to transition from development-focused training into high-level competitive play. These players represent the academy in competitive matches and events, showcasing the standards and identity of SJSA on and off the field.
Selection is based on ability, consistency, attitude, and readiness to compete at a higher level.
Internal tryouts for the SJSA First Team will be announced soon. Tryouts will be open only to players currently enrolled in the Developmental and Academy programs.
Details will be shared directly with eligible players and families.
Players do not apply directly to the First Team. They progress into it.

Selection into the First Team is by invitation only and evaluated on multiple factors, including:

Tactical awareness and decision-making
Physical readiness and work rate
Coachability, discipline, and attitude
Consistent performance in training and matches
Being part of the First Team means meeting high expectations every day.
First Team players train in an environment that reflects competitive standards:

This environment prepares players for school teams, higher competitive levels, and future opportunities.
The First Team exists to challenge players who are ready for more. It is intentionally selective to preserve its standard and purpose. Every player at SJSA is supported in their development, but First Team placement is earned.
The First Team is built from within our academy. Players who show consistent growth, commitment, and readiness may be considered for advancement by the coaching staff.
